Our top-viewed blog post recently has been A Guide to Benjamin Moore’s Best White Paint Colors. Lately, we have had many clients requesting blue. Therefore, it made sense to share our top favorite blue paint colors.

These selections of blue paint colors have been our go-to and have never let us down!

Whichever color you decide, keep in mind these three things that affect paint color. These are the reasons the same color appears different in different rooms, at different times of the day, and in different homes. Therefore, it’s important to test colors on walls and look at them throughout different times of the day before committing.

  1. UNDERTONE
  2. MOOD
  3. LIGHTING

Mount Saint Anne

Mount Saint Anne (CC-710) is a blue-green and gray color. The undertone is warm, lending to creating cozy, timeless spaces. However, the blue in this color can be a great addition to a cool space, adding just a touch of warmth for interest. We recommend using this color… well… anywhere! Bedroom, dining room, living room, the possibilities are endless when considering this blue paint color.

Santorini Blue

Santorini Blue (1634) has undertones of gray and green. In different lighting, this color takes on different personalities. We always recommend trying a sample on your walls before going all in. Sampling this color, specifically, is strongly recommended due to its versatility. In bright lighting, this color takes on more blue and turquoise undertones. Whereas in dim lighting, this color will typically show more gray and lilac.

Hale Navy

Hale Navy (HC-154) is a more modern or classic, moody choice. With its subtle gray and green undertones, this color suits well for spaces needing a touch of sophistication and warmth. With more natural lighting, the color will take on more green. Alternatively, in artificial light, this color will appear more gray. A great example of a blue paint color trusted by designers.

Another green-gray combo is Van Courtland Blue (HC-145). Due to the muted nature, or dusty feeling of this tone, this color feels sophisticated and calm. Though technically a cool color, it is not overwhelmingly so. This allows for versatility in its use.

Van Deusen Blue

Van Deusen Blue (HC-156) is different than the previous ones in that it has more true navy undertones. Typically used in traditional and modern spaces, this is a striking color that will bring the drama. We love to pair this one with a true white, such as Chantilly Lace (OC-65). This combination offers a clean, crisp contrast which showcases this blue paint color brilliantly.

Gentleman’s Gray

Gentleman’s Gray (2062-20) is the perfect deep, dark, bold tone. Mostly navy blue with a touch of slate gray, this color screams rich and elegant. We imagine using this in a whiskey lounge or study. It can also serve as an accent for cabinetry, highlighting this stunning blue paint tone.
